Kitchen Blinds - A Designers Dream

One of the best ways to decorate your kitchen is by installing blinds.  As the kitchen is an area that many of us spend a great deal of time and a place where you can really appreciate the right amount of light entry, kitchen blinds will help you manage that with precision.  In addition, the amazing variety of kitchen blinds available on the market today gives you the freedom to decorate with abandon.

The kind of blinds that you end up choosing for your own kitchen will probably depend on several reasons.  You may have an existing kitchen design that calls out for a certain fabric or material, for example.  Or your criteria for choosing blinds might be based on price.  You may want to coordinate your kitchen window coverings with those of the rest of your home, or you may want a different look altogether.  Whatever way you decide to go, you can be sure that there is no shortage of choices.

Given that your kitchen blinds are subject to more abuse than probably any other blinds in your home, it would behoove you to look for something that combines beauty with durability and functionality.  Easy to clean and a lack of cumbersome and loose cords are essential features for blinds in this room that is nearly every home’s Grand Central Station.  A great place to start your search is by looking at a faux wood blind from companies like Bali, Hunter Douglas, Levelor, Comfortex and Hirsch, to name a few.

The faux wood and imitation wood blinds can be wiped down time after time without any ill effect to the material.  Since the kitchen is likely a place that tends to accumulate more dust, grease and the like, many homemakers put a premium on kitchen blinds that can be cleaned with a great deal of frequency.  These are usually made of a vinyl, polyvinyl, PVC or other similar material.  Though they are ideal for kitchen installation, they are great for the rest of the home as well.

If you insist on a little more elegance for your kitchen blinds, there are plenty of other options as well.  Roman blinds and cellular shades give you tons of decorating flexibility to make your kitchen a real show place.  People who relish the bright and cheerful kitchen with lots of natural light might choose a sheer or semi sheer material for their blinds or shades.  Roman blinds as well as cellular shades give you this possibility in addition to the blackout version.

Though these latter two options in lieu of the basic kitchen blinds arrangement, offer you gorgeous design possibilities, regular cleaning will be a bit more of a challenge.  If you don’t have an incredibly high use kitchen, this could very well be the way to go.

The best news of all is that there is a wide array of choices.  Take your time, evaluate your own needs and tastes, and then give your kitchen the ideal blinds as you see them.
